Eastern Development Spring League

STX Soccer is proud to announce the creation of the EDSL for the 2022 spring season. This is a great opportunity for U15 - U19 teams, from the State Classic League (SCL), Dynamo Dash League (DDL), Eastern District Division 2 League (EDD2L), and Member Association clubs without spring leagues.

“The EDSL aims to provide an opportunity for the most competitive play possible during the spring season for STX Youth Soccer high school-aged teams within the Eastern District and to aid in the development of the competitive youth soccer player.”

The EDSL will run a 4 week season from February to April 2022

November 2021

SJIYSA Winter Futsal League

Welcome to SJIYSA Winter Futsal league,

SJIYSA would like to introduce it’s inaugural winter soccer league. As many of you know Soccer is mainly played in the Spring and Fall, and we saw the need for a winter program to ensure the continued development of youth soccer in the area.

All players & teams that competed in 2021 Fall STYSA league play are eligible to play.

What is Futsal?

Futsal is an indoor 5v5 game with goalkeepers. Played with a heavier ball, Futsal helps to promote a faster paced game of soccer which promotes core soccer skills such as passing, dribbling, shooting, off the ball movement, and most importantly players soccer where it belongs, on the ground. 

Futsal has been recognized by FIFA as it’s official indoor form of soccer. Futsal places emphasis on technical skill. Futsal is played on a hard surfaced floor so there are no cleats allowed, only indoor footwear will be allowed. The idea of Futsal is to let the players to play free of pressure where they can express themselves and learn by playing on the court.

Why play Futsal?

  • Allows players to frequently touch the ball

  • Presents many opportunities to score goals and score goals often

  • Encourages regaining possession of the ball as a productive, fun and rewarding part of the game

  • Maximizes active participation and minimizes inactivity and boredom

When will this begin and how long will the league last?

We are looking at beginning the league after Christmas break. We understand that Later November and all December is a busy period for all, therefore we will look at beginning after Christmas break to allow all players the chance to make every available game with it beginning after the holidays.

The league will last 8 weeks and games will be played Friday evenings, or Sundays. We will announce venues in due course. Locations will be Baytown & Mont Belvieu 

Rules for game play 

Futsal games last 40 minutes with 20-minute halves.

 Max Roster is 10 players

Rosters will be locked @ the beginning of the season 

No team practices
